About Melissa Dempsey:
As a lifelong Hudson Valley resident, I’ve seen firsthand the positive impact of supporting locally owned businesses and how these businesses, in turn, can help a community grow. That’s why I’m using my decade-plus experience as a professional writer, content strategist, and marketer to ensure that locally owned businesses use the right messaging to find their target customer and continue to thrive.
Since 2007, I’ve provided copywriting, content strategy, and marketing services for an array of businesses, including shops, boutiques, restaurants, festivals, health care providers, a utility company, and nonprofits of various sizes. I’ve created blogs and ad copy creation, website text updates, innovative social media campaigns, email marketing to boost in-store traffic, eBooks, press releases, event coordination (from ribbon-cuttings to galas), and more.
In addition, I’ve written for magazines, blogs, and PR/marketing agencies on a wide range of lifestyle topics. I’m a former magazine editor, a published journalist, and the author of e-book “Intro to Social Media Marketing for Small Businesses, Nonprofits, and Brands” (2016), aimed at teaching the basics of social media marketing in an easy-to-grasp format; in 2018 I released an updated, expanded second edition. When I’m not writing, I can usually be found on a local hiking trail with my husband and toddler, strumming around on my guitar, or supporting a local coffee shop.
